Undergraduate course: Medical Device Design & Innovation

Sterling Hall of Medicine

The course pairs physician mentors from the Yale School of Medicine with student teams from various undergraduate disciplines (both engineering and non-engineering) to prototype innovative solutions to the problems posed by the physicians. Lectures cover topics such as engineering design, medical device development, regulatory affairs, business strategy and marketing, intellectual property, etc, and are given by Yale faculty as well as industry representatives. The course culminates in a final presentation of the teams’ tangible prototypes that address a clinical need.
